Since the advent of the pneumatic tire, numerous sizes have coexisted. Rims of varying sizes (A, B, C…), varying widths… A real headache for cyclists! As early as 1906, the “Chambre Syndicale du Cycle” attempted to standardize production around “C” rim diameters (650C and 700C). This attempt met with limited success, and it was not until the early 1920s that a “Standard” emerged. Unlike the previous attempt, it was based on “B” rim diameters. The 700 Standard corresponds to a 700x35B (ETRTO 37-635 – 28 x 1 ¹/₂ x 1³/₈)

The 700 Standard corresponds to rims with an outer diameter of 648 to 650 mm. Its width is set at 35 mm. This is the size used on virtually all touring bicycles from 1920 to 1950.

This model, with its straight tread pattern, stands out for its sleek, minimalist design. It offers excellent rolling performance.

Starting in the 1920s, electric lighting on bicycles also became the norm. This 700B tire therefore features ribs on both sides to drive the dynamo.
