In the second half of the 1920s, some manufacturers began offering 650 Balloon tires with a 50mm width to provide greater comfort compared to 700 Standard tires with a 35mm width.

A few years later, a compromise between standard tires and Balloon tires emerged: the 42mm-wide Semi-Balloon tire.

It began to gain popularity in the early 1930s and became the dominant choice after World War II with the decline of the 650B Balloon tire.

Many manufacturers also prefer it over 700B Standard tires because it allows for more compact, lighter frames with better performance.

Still considered the perfect balance of comfort, performance, and lightness, it is the tire of choice for many cyclists.

This model features a "striped" tread pattern. In addition to offering a sleek and elegant design, this also ensures excellent rolling performance.

This tire model features asymmetrical sidewalls. On one side are the BERGOUGNAN markings and the tire size. On the other side are the drive ribs for a dynamo. You can see this side in the gallery above, mounted on a black rim. It has no specific direction of rotation; you can mount it either way, depending on whether the dynamo is on the right or left.
